Native to Brazil this tropical herb is know as the “toothache” plant. In zones 9 and below it is easily grown as annual, preferring lots of sun and moist soil. Start indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost then transplant outdoors in warm weather. Flowers are potent when made into a tea or tincture for toothaches or for the on set of colds. Eating a fresh flower will make your mouth water and tingle, tea is recommend over eating them.
